Tips for Destin Snorkel Tours

After a couple of days on the beach, families are often ready for their next adventure. A great place to start your planning your Destin adventure is through Newman-Dailey’s Be Free Bundle. These businesses have partnered with Newman-Dailey to offer our guests experiences for free or at a discounted rate. Our team recently experienced the Destin Snorkel two-stop snorkeling excursion and came back with these great tips.

Destin Snorkel Has All the Equipment.

When you arrive, Destin Snorkel staff will size you for fins. Mask, snorkel and fins are included with your admission. After you take a short boat ride to the Destin pass, the team will anchor the boat and families will enjoy an hour of snorkeling along the East Jetty. Life jackets are available upon request for inexperienced and younger swimmers. Children under 10 may appreciate the life jacket which keeps them afloat and off the rocks while snorkeling along the jetty. The Destin Jetty provides a buffer from the Gulf of Mexico and the calm water creates the perfect habitat for marine life including fish, crabs, hermit crabs, shells and more. You can even hear the dolphins talking in high pitched squeals in the distance.

Bring Your Own Snacks and Adult Beverages.

Destin Snorkel provides free soda and bottled water for guests.  For families with children, we recommend bringing snacks as kids will get hungry after swimming and snorkeling on this 3-hour excursion. Adults may also want to bring a cooler with adult beverages (Note: No glass is allowed on the boat or on area beaches).

Best Dolphin Pictures.

While there are usually quite a few dolphins searching for dinner at the Destin pass, capturing pictures of these marine mammals can be challenging. They come to the surface for a breath and are quickly back underwater before you know it. The captain recommends keeping your phone in video mode and then screen grab the perfect shot of dolphins coming up for air or jumping in the surf.

Bring a Bucket for Shells.

We recommend bringing a bucket for shell collecting. The second stop is shell collecting in the Bay. Since Destin Snorkel is kind enough to make sure everyone has the opportunity to find a shell, we recommend bringing a bucket to collect your treasures on this scavenger hunt. The 8-year-old boy in the group had a blast walking along the flats looking for the bright white shells. His hands were quickly filled and he was wishing he had brought his bucket.
