Now that the building is nearing completion, our community is buzzing about Whole Foods Market opening in Destin this spring. Whole Foods new Florida location is just east of Destin Commons in front of Lowe’s Home Improvement store.
For those who have not experienced Whole Foods Market, residents and visitors are in for a treat. Whole Foods started as a small grocery store in Austin, Texas and has grown to be the world leader in natural and organic foods with 439 stores in North America and the United Kingdom. Coined the Healthiest Grocery Store™, Whole Foods seeks out the finest natural and organic foods available, maintains the strictest quality standards in the industry, and has an unshakeable commitment to sustainable agriculture. Whole Foods adheres to strict standards that take into account such things as artificial food preservatives, sustainable seafood, animal welfare, antibiotics in meat and pesticides in vegetables.
We’re also impressed with Whole Foods commitment to the communities they serve. Whole Foods Destin is already establishing partnerships with some of our favorite non-profits, including Food for Thought and Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance.
Whole Foods Destin will include a full-service coffee bar, more than 350 hand-cut cheeses, hand-tossed pizza station, indoor & outdoor cafes, chef-prepared cuisine, hearth baked breads and organic and local produce. In addition to healthy groceries, the fresh meals to-go and full salad bar filled with yummy items will be a convenient option for families vacationing at the beach. The Destin community named the craft beer and wine bar--Lucky Catch Bar & Bites. At Lucky Catch, guests will enjoy deliciously fresh menu items complemented by craft beer and organic wines.
The store will open at 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, following a bread-breaking ceremony with team members, Destin’s mayor, city officials and the community.
